When I first started playing drums, my fills were horrible. I never knew how to make them sound good, until I finally learned (from some of my teachers) to include the bass drum in some way. I practiced playing linear strokes, as well as unison strokes.
I was just playing snare and toms for all my fills and never knew how much better it sounded with the bass drum. So this lesson is for beginner – intermediate drummers who struggle the same way I did. I hope it helps you!
